“Carry each other’s burdens and in this way you fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2
In each of our lives, there are seasons of increased burden. This may be due to illness or injury, the loss of a loved one, the loss of autonomy through the process of aging, or some other form of stress. It is not only a commandment, but also a great privilege to be able to assist one another in these times, demonstrating the loving community that Christ desires us to have.
The Compassion Ministry seeks to foster the fulfillment of carrying each other’s burdens through several means:
- Awareness of the needs of our people
- Pairing of congregants who are willing to serve with those in need
- Support through prayer, meals, visitation, or other resources
- Encouragement to the entire community to offer comfort to others where need is found
